Global Impact Celebration

The Global Impact Celebration or GIC is a special 4-day event taking place September 29-October 2, 2022 that focuses on MISSIONS. This incredible event allows us to bring our mission partners, the missionaries we support and our church family together so we can bless them with four great days of love, encouragement, good times and fellowship.

We will kick off GIC by sponsoring a Meal Packing Event for Mission of Hope in Haiti on Saturday, September 24th. We will continue serving others throughout the week by participating in various challenges each day to help us “Accelerate” God’s love in our community.

For 12 years CUMC has organized this event annually for two purposes. One is to bring in many of our partner missionaries from around the world and bless them and secondly to raise awareness of the existence of global and local missions in need of our support. GIC is an event you and your family will not want to miss.

CUMC has supported more than a dozen global missionaries working in Kenya, Costa Rica, China and India; just to name a few of the countries, and many local ministries in Chapin, Columbia, Newberry and as far away nationally as Kentucky.

GIC weekend simply allows us to fully engage our senses in the Great Commission and we have the privilege to interact with the folks who are in the field living it out in ways we are not able to.

Chapin UMC is committed to reaching out to the lost and hurting both at home and abroad by forming partnerships with churches and organizations that are planting churches, equipping leaders, assisting the poor, caring for the sick

and educating future generations.

Upcoming Local Mission Opportunities

  • Global Impact Celebration (GIC) local service day is scheduled for Saturday October 1st. This is an annual event where help is given from 8:00am to 12:00pm in the local community such as: yard work for seniors, minor home repairs, etc. The morning starts with a breakfast at CUMC where assigned tasks are given. Open to all and is a great way for families to work together. If interested, respond to: with number of people and ages of youth.  Information is needed to plan for projects.

  • Thanksgiving at the HUB is restarting this year since the risk of COVID has reduced. Local churches come together to prepare Thanksgiving dinner for those in need in the local community. Volunteers are needed to prepare a dish with items provided by the church. More details to follow once completed.

  • WARM Project held two days between Christmas and New Year’s to compete home repairs for people in the Chapin area needing help. The work involves some major construction/repair activities but there are no requirements for previous experience; any skill level is appreciated. Another great project for families and the June Youth Mission Week proved youth are capable of this type of work. More information later in the year requesting sign-ups so projects can be planned.

  • Cabo, Mexico - Completed

    LOCATION: Cabo

    DATES: February 2022

The Cabo Sun Lucas mission provides construction assistance for a Christian dormitory living space that will house approximately 20 men.  Many of the men have been involved in drug or alcohol abuse and now have broken or nonexistent families. Currently, the men live in a camp type environment, and CUMC missions along with other churches are trying to upgrade their living conditions.  During the February 2022 mission trip, the walls and columns of the new dormitory were finished.  The 2023 project will consist of pouring concrete to provide a solid floor for the men and other potential needs.  2 more visits before the dormitory will be complete!  If you have a servant’s heart with experience in construction and the ability to share Christ for the first time to some of the men… this is the mission trip for you!
