ChapinUMC is a praying church and has an active and continuous prayer ministry. We believe God responds to prayer, and He desires to be in relationship with us through prayer.
There are many opportunities to be part of a prayer group at ChapinUMC; please see the list below for more information.
Prayer Group Meetings: Morning meetings are the 2nd and 4th Monday at 10am in room 206. Evening meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 6:30pm in room 206. Please call Shirley Maybin at 345.5056 for more information.
Prayer Room: Located in Room 217. This is an opportunity for you to pray in guided prayer stations or come to pray and meditate in a quiet place within the church. A special place is provided for prayer for the military and also a memorial shelf to place candles in memory of a loved one. Prayer Room training is conducted as needed.
Prayer Partners: You may sign up to be a Prayer Partner. You will be given prayer requests via e-mail. Confidentiality is stressed and is of the utmost importance. You are expected to pray for all of the requests that you receive for a minimum of thirty days

Prayer Quilt Ministry: “Prayers and Squares” is an outreach ministry that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt. The purpose of “Prayers and Squares” is not to make and distribute quilts, but to promote prayer through the use of quilts. Our motto is: “It’s not about the quilts; it’s all about the prayers.” The idea behind these quilts is simple. A heavy thread is used to take stitches through the quilt layers, and the ends are left free to be tied with a square knot. As each knot is tied, a silent prayer is said for someone in special need, who then receives the finished quilt. Bi-monthly meetings are held for this group for prayer, working with quilts, fellowship and fun.
Pre-Worship Prayer: A group of Prayer Warriors meet each Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. We pray over all segments of the worship service by laying hands on pews, altar, pulpit, music area, etc., winding up our prayer time in the Prayer Chapel to pray for our Pastor. We also pray for our Sunday School teachers, second adults, our children, youth and other servant ministers. We finish our prayer time by 8:20 a.m. so that one may participate in all other worship opportunities.
Prayer Groups: Small group with a focus on prayer needs will meet at least once a month for an hour at a time convenient for the group or more often if the group deems it appropriate. Other prayer groups will be formed as needed

Praying for the Military: We pray for those in the military, their families, their safety and protection. We also support them with holiday cards and calling cards when we are given addresses and information for doing this. Time for this ministry will vary depending on how often you come to the Prayer Room to pray. A military prayer square is also made especially for them.
